Something about paying over $5 for a kolache or a breakfast taco hurts the Texan in me but it's only to be expected in nyc. The decor of the place is very austin-esque with lots of kitschy Texan nods like license plates and whataburger ketchup bottles. The owners said they fly in coffee and sausages from somewhere in Texas to be as authentic as possible. Kolaches - I didn't feel that the sesame seeds on the buns were all that authentic. and I would have preferred the traditional long/narrow more hot-dog-like shape rather than the square bun type shapes that they have. In addition, I felt that the casing on the sausages were too thick and took away from the overall flavor. And there was wayy too much cheese in the kolaches - they overpowered the tastes of all the other ingredients. Breakfast Tacos - they're rather small, especially for something that's over $5. again, overpowered with lots of cheese. But then again, there aren't many choices in the city for us Texans for these things. For kolaches the only other place is Brooklyn Kolache. For breakfast tacos you have Yellow Rose, Los Tacos No 1 and Javelina (though 2 of those only do them on the weekends). The tacos came with 2 kinds of salsa - when I called it 'salsa' the owners corrected me and said they were 'sauces' which I felt was rather weird. This place is also rather out of the way in queens so it's a bit of a trek unless you happen to live nearby. I'm not aware that there's a large Texan transplant population nearby (or that there is any congregation of Texan transplants in the city at all for that matter).

Kings Kolache is a little bakery serving traditional and Austin modernized Kolaches! The dough itself is so fluffy and they were baking them fresh so mine were warm immediately as I ordered them. The place is supposed to be a slice of Austin Texas in NYC. The combo of a savory and sweet combo was the way to go for me, I loved the maple sausage egg and cheese but my favorite was the blueberry and cream it was so good. 2 Kolaches and a coffee for $10 is a great deal in my book! The vibe of this place is awesome and all the staff were extremely friendly to talk to!

The kolaches are always a winner. I love this place. It's my go to for weekend breakfasts and they have never disappointed me.

A nice little taste of Texas in the city. The tacos are foil-wrapped bites of all the classic breakfast goodies, though they were held back by tortillas that felt a little generic. The kolaches are quite good, though the bread felt less like the classic Czech recipe and more like a simple American dinner roll. Still solid, if not perfect.

This was delicious and I enjoyed the lemon chess the most out of all flavors. I will try more flavors in the near future.

I wanted to update my review because I still love Kings Kolache! I love their rotating kolache options and the vegetarian Migas breakfast taco. Their delivery is always super fast which is great. They are now on an app called ChowNow that has lower fees for delivery and more goes to the business.

Not Texan so I can't speak to the authenticity of these kolaches, but they taste pretty darn good. The buns are hot and fresh, the texture is soft and light, and they have a variety of interesting flavors. I know the sweet fillings are the most traditional but I personally liked the egg and cheddar the most. The jalapeño sausage was also tasty but the filling to bun ratio is not as good.

I am a breakfast taco snob and I love these! The bacon, egg and cheese taco is the best! It has refried beans in it which is I think the secret weapon that turns something simple-sounding into something amazing-tasting. The sausage Kolaches are so good. I basically order a bunch of things and just eat them all day. Two tacos for breakfast. Two Kolaches for lunch. Maybe two more tacos for dinner. Mmmm. Love this place. Sundays are my Kings Kolache day. :) I'm from south Texas so I missed these goodies so much and I have to say that Kings Kolache Bakery is the real deal. Can't recommend enough. Coffee is great too.
